LOAD513 - 2nd Posting.

I have being creating and posting to the LOAD513 Flickr group every day so far this month. Today's prompt might be a little tricky but I have a few ideas.  Here's what I did last week.

Day 6 the clue was Red Herring.  I chose to scrap three photos of Charo taken on our 20th anniversary cruise.

LOAD6 - a twist on the Red Herring. We got to see Charo while on our anniversary cruise in 2001 and knew that she was a trained classical guitarist as well as the Coochy-Coochy girl. But for someone who's only seen the flamboyant - the classical guitar is amazing.
All supplies are by Urusla Schneider (ScrapGirls) her Arizona Sunset kit. No template this time.

Day 7 the clue was related to the great mysteries of life, WHY?

Template by Angie Briggs (ScrapGirls) SSLOAlb-Ser8_pg4,background paper by Jan Ransley (ScrapGirls) ILoveLondon kit, and CUTapes by Amanda Rockwell (ScrapbookGraphics)
I seem to have more paper clutter than anything else and it is so hard to get rid of perfectly good wire-bound booklets, note pads, sticky notes, receipts, race numbers, half-read magazines, etc. So that's my WHY?

Day8 the clue was Colonel Mustard.

LOAD8---Colonel-Mustard---Pagosa-Springs

The clue/prompt for today was Colonel Mustard so I recolored a few items mustard yellow. The template is Katy the ScrapbookLady's Stunning Shots which was a free gift on The Daily Digi Nov 2012. All the other supplies are by Julie Billingsley of the Sweet Shoppe, her kit "Imagine That."

Day 9 the clue was a weapon, the Revolver.

LOAD9---Target-of-my-Affection

With a clue of Revolver, all I could think of was target practice (which I haven't done in YEARS.) I finally decided to do a target of hearts and stick my sweetheart in the center. I ended up using Puppetwarp to make the hearts sort-of conform to the heart shape but in the color scheme of a bulls-eye target. I scattered sprinkles (recolored) to be gunshot splatter and used paper airplanes as my arrows. I found a perfect wordart and a lovely comic couple to finish it off.
Background - FaithTrue 4Ever kit, Heart circles - Kellie Mize Circle of Love, Center heart- Julie Larsen LoveyDovey, Couple - Sherriejd CouplesTherapy, Sprinkles - Valerie Wibbins Sweet Tooth Sprinkles, Paper Airplanes - Allison Pennington Playground Love, Word Art - Meghan Mullens Lucky in Love.

Day 10 the clue was the STUDY.

LOAD10---Study

This turned out to be relatively easy. I did have to find some "Polaroid"-type frames and make my own masks for my pictures but that wasn't hard. Then it was put things down, label, add journaling, and drop shadows. I have many more photos of the wild flowers around North Central New Mexico but, as with these, I don't know what all the flowers are. Guess I'll have to STUDY.
Photo frames are from AD Designs by Anita - Favorite Moments. All the rest are from a Sweet Shoppe Designs Collaboration called Smart Aleck. Font is AR Berkley.

Day 11's clue was a motive, LUST.

LOAD---11-Lust-for-Black-Cat

Lust equals Passion and that's what I have for my black cat, Shitani. He's about 13 years old and is a real sweetheart - so long as I get up early (4-4:30 am) to feed him and as long as you're not that nasty female black and white cat that also lives in the house. Could I commit a murder for that cat - maybe - but let's not test it, okay?
No template. Background paper is by Valerie Randall (ScrapGirls) Abstractions kit. Paper over background by Angie Briggs (ScrapGirls) BeingWithYou kit. Butterflies by Shawuna Clingerman (SweetShoppeDesigns) Beauty, Time and Distance kit), Gem by Shawnery Mathis (ACoT) Antique Love kit

LOAD513 (LayOut A Day May 2013)

After actually managing to do the 30 lists in 30 days and doing some work on the Art Journal Caravan, I decided I would try Lain Ehnman's LOAD513. LOAD means Lay Out A Day.  Lain sends out a prompt every morning at 12:01 am EDT. All the people who have signed up for the program have until 12 midnight PDT that same day to complete a layout and post it to the special FLICKR group gallery. I believe there are a few prizes but to get the grand prize you have to complete one scrapbook layout (digital or glue&paper) each day the program runs.  This one will run through all of May. And I don't know what any of the prizes are since they weren't the draw for me; the challenge was.

The Theme for the whole month is "Get a Clue" and is based, loosely, on the game of Clue.  We don't have to use the clue, but I'll try to twist it some way to fit.

May 1 was my TOPS's chapter meeting day. I had my upload done before I left. The clue for today was Mrs. White and it triggered the white frosting on my favorite cake.

All supplies are by Amanda McGee from her Doodlelicious Kit. I created the lay-out from Sketch#8 of GetItScrapped. I use Photoshop CS6.

Now things got complicated immediately as our state's TOPS State Recognition Day [SRD] celebration was taking place in Santa Fe starting Thursday night and running through Saturday noon.  I hadn't intended going on Thursday night but ended up there in the afternoon thinking I would be tying tags on roses. It turned out the roses weren't going to arrive until around 8 pm and I wasn't going to stick around for that so I went back home.

I'd had the morning to do the layout and I got that done and posted. The clue for this was a knife.  So I decided to 'take a stab' at it by posting a picture of me and John on the Oasis of the Seas last year getting a picture of at least one member of our team on the climbing wall.

All digi-kit supplies are by Valerie Randall (ScrapGirls) except for the Project Life cards which are from the Turquoise Edition of Becky Higgins Project Life cards/supplies. The template is from Simple Scrapper - the Ma13 single 2. I also uploaded this to the Simple Scrapper May 2013 Gallerry.

Friday morning I left for Santa Fe around 7:20 and managed to make it to the hotel by 8:30. I came home again by 5:15. Again, I managed to get my layout done before I left.

Everything, except the pictures is from a Sweet Shoppe Designs Collaboration called Brighter Days Ahead. I chose that one because the colors matched, pretty closely, to a color swatch I'd pinned. Since the clue today was the Kitchen - I chose to do a favorite breakfast of mine.

Saturday, things didn't run quite as smoothly and I didn't finish the layout in the morning. But SRD ended a little after noon and I was home by 1:10. Later that afternoon I completed the layout and posted it.

Over the last several years (starting in 2006 at least) I have tried to organize my scrap supplies. Maybe I'm just too greedy and don't want to give up anything. (Plus now I have my mother's sewing stuff that I don't want to get rid of stuffed in the same space.)
Template is from AD Designs by Anita - Favorite Moments_template 01. Other supplies are by Amy Wolff - her paper strips and a kit called Quirky Love. I recolored a lot to make them go with the background by Amanda Sok from a kit called Painted Cardboard.

Now to today.  I got my layout uploaded around 9:30 or 10 this morning along with doing 3 loads of laundry through folding and putting away, cutting up mostly frozen chuck roast and starting a crockpot meal for tonight and boiling the eggs for tuna salad for lunch. As I'm writing this, it's just after 10:30 - I feel like I've accomplished quite a bit today already.  The clue for today was a title. Agatha Christy's And Then There Were None, formerly called Ten Little Indians.

No template this time. After I duplicated the background, I used CS6 to draw a line with a brush straight across, then rotated the line 45ยบ. Then I duplicated the line and moved it to divide the space. Then I merged the two lines and duplicated the page, I filled one half with black, then I filled the other half with gray. I used those as masks when I added my papers. Both papers are from Anna Aspnes' ArtPalette Barren Sunrise. The fotoblendz are her Watercolor Fotoblendz numbers 2 and 3. The script font is Monotype Coursiva and the dramatic one is Creepsville by Tony O'Farrel at DaFont.
I've never read the book by Agatha Christy but it's obvious by this layout that I'm an animal lover. The phrase struck me as appropriate and I'm sure others feel the same (and may scrap a layout about it as well.)

I will endeavor to post daily during the month of May so keep checking to see how I do the LOAD513.

Dog Jog 2013

Yesterday, Saturday, April 27, 2013, John and I participated in the annual Dog Jog.  We don't jog (I may jiggle and jostle a little, but I don't jog) so we did the dog walk.  The Jog was a timed race around Meadow Lane and Rover Blvd starting and ending at Chamisa School.  The walk was a two mile walk from Chamisa on Meadow Lane to Bryce, up Bryce to Rover and back to Chamisa.  the Jog was 3.1 miles and the walk 2 miles.

This was my first time to go in the event, John's second.

We got to the school a little after 8:30, grabbed our packets and waited for the race/walk to start at 9.

Included in John's packet was a bandana for the dog and a t-shirt.  My packet didn't have a bandana since I wasn't walking a dog but I did get the t-shirt.

We met some friends we've seen around White Rock and I met someone I used to work with along with his wife.  They both see John fairly regularly because he frequently (at least twice a week) walks past their house on his way up to State Road 4.

Nine o'clock approached and we all started meandering to the start/finish line.  They lined up the joggers first so they wouldn't be hampered by all the walkers.  As soon as they were off we were told to go.

Yes, I shot this picture into the sun. I have no idea who they are or what their dog's names are, just a few of the 200-400+ people who participated this year.

When we got down to the turn off to Overlook Park a police car came up behind us and, on the loud speaker, told us to move over to the sidewalk as the street wasn't closed for the event.

As a result of making a side-trip to the baseball fields, I was just about the last of the walkers to finish.  There was one woman with an elderly dog and behind her another woman with a young kid and a 4-month old shelter dog (who didn't walk in a straight line - too many fascinating smells) who came in considerably later.

When I met up with John again at the school, I had walked 8300 steps.  By the end of the day (we still had to do our weekly grocery run) I had 11,096 steps.  I usually only manage 3000-5000 steps a day. Eventually I hope to consistently get over 10k.

Yes, my legs hurt then and still do now.

But I was down 2 pounds this morning.

The Reason We Went to London

On Dec 26, 2012 we flew from Los Angeles to London for a week of activities that culminated with the London's New Year's Day parade.  The parade ran from the Ritz to Piccadilly Circus on to Whitehall and Parlament Street where it met Bridge Street a block from Westminter Bridge.

The reason we went to watch this parade was because our oldest granddaughter, Garnet, was going to march in the parade.

In August 2012 at Cheer Camp, Garnet tried out for the All American Cheerleaders and was selected as a member. Varsity Tours set up the travel arrangements and tours. We had an amazing time in London. There were several excursions and two days of All-Day Tube passes for everyone as well as breakfasts for everyone and vouchers we could use for our lunches.

New Year's Day was cool with highs predicted around 50 F.  John, Cecelia (Garnet's mother, my daughter) and I had grandstand seats.  We didn't find out until after brunch where our seats were but they couldn't have been better.  We were in the third set of grandstands but on the very first row. I was quite grateful we didn't have to stand for the 3+ hours of the parade.

Garnet was in the third group of Cheerleaders and performed to the music Starship. I managed to get a fairly good picture of her.

The paper, flower, button and journal spot were from Britt-ish Designs kit Carousel. The 'awesome' stamp is from the Abstract Cheerleader Brush set by Anna Aspnes (although the brushes don't seem to be available at this time)and the word 'reason' was made using letters from Kelly Shults at A Cherry on Top Christmas Happy Holidays kit. I used two fonts, 'The' and 'we came to London was' were typed with AcclamationItal and the journaling was typed using Lucida Handwriting.

30 Days of Lists - the last 10

This and the previous two posts have been about a program 30 Days of Lists that I participated in during March. 30-Days of Lists. This was the first time I'd tried it and I surprised myself by actually finishing it.
For the blog, I transferred my lists (with a little editing at times) to digital cards in the Becky Higgins line of Project Life supplies - the journal cards. The cards used today are cards that are not available to the general public this month but are part of The Daily Digi member files. These are part of the Rain Edition.
Days 1-10 used the Project Life Cobalt Edition and Days11-20 used the Project Life Turquoise Edition both of which can be found at AC Digitals with Project Life search.

30 Days of Lists - Middle 10 Days

We were back home and getting back into our routines but I still managed to write on my daily lists. This time it helped that I was received a daily email with the prompt. I had my notebook handy and just stopped
to write my list. I don't usually listen to music unless DH has turned the radio on so Day 16 about the monthly soundtrack didn't really fit - I changed it to my favorite artists.  The actual prompt for Day 17 is: My biography would include tales of which I didn't manage to get on the card.

30 Days of Lists - the First 10 Days

March 1 was the start of an on-line project called 30 Days of Lists.  This program has been going on for a few years, but this was the first year I signed up to do it.  The first ten days of lists occurred during our annual cruise so the lists may not accurately reflect my normal experiences. Here are the first ten days of lists.

I originally made my lists in a notebook but entered them on to digital journaling cards from Becky Higgin's Cobalt Edition of Project Life.
